The knot has burst! Mathilda Paatz achieved her first top 10 result at the sixth round of the French Formula 4 Championship in Dijon. Although the 16-year-old from Cologne was only able to start the second race on Saturday from 20th position after an unfortunate qualifying session and an additional penalty, she fought her way up to tenth place in the course of the 20-minute race with a flawless performance. The ADAC Formula 4 Junior Team driver also made up a total of nine positions in the third race, impressively proving that she can definitely compete for the top positions in Formula 4.
Paatz narrowly misses out on first top 10 result at Magny-Cours
The fifth race weekend of the French Formula 4 Championship in Magny-Cours could have been very successful for Mathilda Paatz. In a strong qualifying session, the 16-year-old proved that the trust placed in her was fully justified: the Cologne-based driver qualified ninth in the top 10 for the first time, less than a tenth of a second behind seventh place. Paatz lost three places in the first race and just missed out on her first points in twelfth place. Although things did not go as hoped in the other two races, after a turbulent weekend, the joy of the performance shown in qualifying and the great progress in terms of duel behaviour, aggressiveness and lap times outweighs the disappointment.
