Paatz narrowly misses out on first top 10 result at Magny-Cours

The fifth race weekend of the French Formula 4 Championship in Magny-Cours could have been very successful for Mathilda Paatz. In a strong qualifying session, the 16-year-old proved that the trust placed in her was fully justified: the Cologne-based driver qualified ninth in the top 10 for the first time, less than a tenth of a second behind seventh place. Paatz lost three places in the first race and just missed out on her first points in twelfth place. Although things did not go as hoped in the other two races, after a turbulent weekend, the joy of the performance shown in qualifying and the great progress in terms of duel behaviour, aggressiveness and lap times outweighs the disappointment. The race weekend on the traditional circuit in the Eifel was also characterised by special circumstances: payroll GmbH, the main sponsor of the young driver from Cologne, invited numerous sponsors and supporters to the Eifel. Friends and family also took up the offer. They visited Paatz on Saturday, had the Formula 4 car explained to them and watched the races from the lounge above the pits. Weiterlesen…

Paatz experiences a gruelling weekend in Ledenon

Mathilda Paatz experienced a rollercoaster of emotions on the second race weekend of the French Formula 4 Championship in Ledenon: although the 15-year-old put in a solid performance in all sessions, technical problems with her Formula 4 car slowed her down several times. In addition, the hill-and-valley circuit in the south of France is particularly demanding and energy-sapping, which pushed Paatz to her physical limits. Nevertheless, the ADAC Sports Foundation protégée made a good impression, which she underpinned with a 17th place in the second race. After a promising start in Nogaro, Paatz once again proved her potential in the fiercely contested championship.

Paatz experiences disappointing World Cup appearance despite good performance

At the FIA Kart World Championship in Franciacorta, Italy, the highlight of the season for Mathilda Paatz from Cologne, the German young talent was unable to achieve a satisfactory finish despite good performances. The 15-year-old, who had travelled to the event with great expectations, had to cope with an unintentional retirement on the first day, which abruptly ended her dream of reaching the final. On the second day, an accident at the start and an engine failure prevented Paatz from making it to the Superheats and caused her great disappointment. Nevertheless, the driver from DPK-Racing, the junior team of Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso, was able to show her potential over the course of the weekend.

No luck for Paatz at the Champions of the Future in Franciacorta

The final of the Champions of the Future Euro Series (CotF) in Franciacorta, Italy, was a big disappointment for Mathilda Paatz. After a good start to the weekend, which raised hopes of a good result, the DPK-Racing pilot was slowed down by a defective race engine. In the heats, in which some of the young talents were over-motivated and went at it with a crowbar, Paatz had to avoid the collisions and accidents in front of her and thus fell back to the end of the field several times.

World Championship preparation for Paatz: Turbulent races in the WSK Euro Series

Last weekend, Mathilda Paatz used the WSK Euro Series event in Franciacorta, Italy, to prepare for the Champions of the Future Euro Series and the FIA World Karting Championship at the same venue. In the process, the DPK-Racing drivers gained important experience, but also had to pay dearly.
