Mathilda Paatz, one of the up-and-coming motorsport talents in Germany, is also part of the selection squad of the FIA project "Girls on Track - Rising Stars" in the 2023 season. Last year, the 15-year-old narrowly missed out on victory in the final and was ultimately one of the best four participants in the world. This year, Paatz is fighting for an important promotion for her further career in formula racing.
"I am happy that I have the chance to prove my talent again this year," says Mathilda Paatz, who sat in a formula car for the first time during tests in France in August. "Last year I narrowly missed out on victory, so I am all the more motivated now. I have developed further, analysed my weaknesses and made important progress."
On 6 and 7 September, the first elimination competition will take place in Franciacorta, Italy. The best four female drivers are invited to Maranello in November, where they complete a rigorous programme of physical and mental tests, media activities, technical workshops and simulator training at the legendary Fiorano circuit. On the last two days, the young female racers are allowed to demonstrate their talent in a Formula 4 racing car.
In the end, the girl deemed the most talented and promising by the experts at the Ferrari Driver Academy will receive the coveted sponsorship and, with the support of the Iron Dames team, will compete in Formula 4 in 2024. "I'm giving everything to achieve this goal," Paatz is ambitious. "This success would be an important foundation stone for my further career!"
