Am vergangenen Wochenende k\u00e4mpfte Mathilda Paatz bei den FIA Motorsport Games in Frankreich um die Medaillen. Die K\u00f6lnerin vertrat Deutschland in der Kategorie \u201eKarting Sprint Junior\u201c und duellierte sich mit 30 weiteren Talenten aus aller Welt. Mit dem 13. Gesamtrang verpasste sie die Top-Zehn zwar knapp, doch die 14-J\u00e4hrige blickt auf ein spannendes und ereignisreiches Wochenende zur\u00fcck. Bereits am Mittwoch wurde Paatz eine gro\u00dfe Ehre zuteil: Sie durfte gemeinsam mit Ex-Formel-1-Pilot Felipe Massa die internationale Veranstaltung er\u00f6ffnen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Die FIA Motorsport Games fanden 2019 zum ersten Mal statt und fielen in den vergangenen Jahren der Corona-Pandemie zum Opfer, sodass die diesj\u00e4hrige Ausgabe die zweite Veranstaltung darstellte. Die Austragung erfolgt in Anlehnung an die Olympischen Spiele: Statt der bekannten Pokale werden Medaillen in Gold, Silber und Bronze vergeben. Zudem gab es eine gro\u00dfe Er\u00f6ffnungsfeier, bei der Mathilda Paatz auf der B\u00fchne f\u00fcr kurze Zeit im Mittelpunkt stand. Gemeinsam mit Ex-Formel-1-Pilot Felipe Massa sprach die K\u00f6lnerin den „olympischen Eid“ der FIA Motorsport Games.<\/p>\n\n\n

Knapp 500 Rennfahrer*innen aus 72 Nationen traten in 16 Disziplinen gegeneinander an \u2013 vom Kart- und Formelsport \u00fcber GT- und Tourenwagen bis zum E-Sport. Mathilda Paatz hatte die Ehre, Deutschland in der Kategorie „Karting Sprint Junior“ zu vertreten, wo sie auf 30 Kontrahenten aus der ganzen Welt traf. Die einzelnen Motorsport-Verb\u00e4nde w\u00e4hlten die besten Sportler*innen ihres Landes, sodass die Leistungsdichte innerhalb der Wettk\u00e4mpfe besonders hoch war. Paatz \u00fcberzeugte auf Anhieb mit einer guten Leistung. Die F\u00f6rderpilotin vom ADAC Nordrhein etablierte sich im Verlauf der Trainingssitzungen im vorderen Mittelfeld.

Alle Teilnehmer*innen waren mit Ehrgeiz unterwegs: Im Qualifying, das \u00fcber die Startpl\u00e4tze f\u00fcr die Vorl\u00e4ufe entschied, wurde Paatz von der Konkurrenz gleich zweimal von der Strecke gedr\u00e4ngt. In der Folge gelang der 14-J\u00e4hrigen keine freie, perfekte Runde, sodass es lediglich zum 12. Platz in der Gruppe sowie dem 24. Gesamtrang reichte. F\u00fcr die enge Strecke in Le Castellet, die kaum Chancen zum \u00dcberholen bietet, war dies eine schlechte Ausgangslage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paatz zeigt starke Aufholjagd<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Um die absolute Chancengleichheit bei den FIA Motorsport Games zu gew\u00e4hrleisten, starteten alle Fahrerinnen und Fahrer mit einheitlichen Karts aus der OK-Junioren-Klasse, die von Kart Republic bereitgestellt und vorbereitet werden. Paatz zeigte in allen Vorl\u00e4ufen eine k\u00e4mpferische Leistung. Im ersten Heat schob sich die K\u00f6lnerin auf den 13. Platz nach vorne, w\u00e4hrend im zweiten Vorlauf aufgrund einer Spoilerstrafe nur die 23. Position zu Buche stand. Im dritten und letzten Heat landete Paatz auf dem 16. Platz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In der Addition aller Vorl\u00e4ufe belegte die Botschafterin von „Women in Motorsport“ die 17. Position, was zugleich dem Startplatz f\u00fcr das wichtige Finalrennen entsprach. Dort hielt sich die 14-J\u00e4hrige aus jeglichem Chaos heraus, fuhr ein sauberes Rennen und wurde schlussendlich auf dem 13. Gesamtrang gewertet. Damit verpasste Paatz die Top-Zehn zwar knapp, doch im engen Starterfeld der 30 weltbesten Rennfahrer*innen sorgt das Resultat f\u00fcr Zufriedenheit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

„Ich bin dankbar, dass ich Deutschland als Teil des ‚Motorsport Team Germany‘ bei den FIA Motorsport Games vertreten durfte“, sagt Mathilda Paatz nach der aufregenden Woche in Frankreich. „Auch wenn ich mir ein besseres Resultat gew\u00fcnscht habe, konnte ich einige H\u00f6hepunkte setzen und weitere Erfahrungen sammeln. Mit dem ungl\u00fccklichen Qualifying, dessen Ausgang ich mir nicht selbst zuzuschreiben habe, waren die Chancen auf eine Top-Platzierung schon am Freitag dahin. Nichtsdestotrotz habe ich versucht, eine starke Leistung zu zeigen, um Deutschland bestm\u00f6glich zu repr\u00e4sentieren. Das ist mir gelungen.“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Weitere Herausforderungen stehen bevor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bei der Abschlussfeier am Sonntagabend durften die jungen Talente der deutschen Mannschaft, darunter auch Mathilda Paatz, die NewStar Trophy der FIA Motorsport Games 2022 in Empfang nehmen. In den Disziplinen der Nachwuchstalente (Karting Endurance, Karting Sprint Junior, Karting Slalom, Auto Slalom, Cross Car Junior und Fanatec Esports) zeigte das ‚Motorsport Team Germany‘ die beste Gesamtleistung aller teilnehmenden L\u00e4nder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Auch in den kommenden Wochen hat Mathilda Paatz noch einige Herausforderungen zu meisten. Zun\u00e4chst k\u00e4mpft die 14-J\u00e4hrige im Auswahlverfahren der ADAC Stiftung Sport um einen festen Platz im ‚Motorsport Team Germany‘, ehe sie im italienischen Lonato am WSK Final Cup (10. bis 13. November) teilnimmt. Anschlie\u00dfend blickt die K\u00f6lnerin dem Finale von ‚FIA Girls on Track \u2013 Rising Stars‘ (21. bis 24. November) entgegen.
